The phenomenal Baiba Skride leads an ensemble of musicians from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in a recital that ranges from the nostalgic Malinconia to the cheerful Andante Festivo. At the heart of the programme is the Sibelius Piano Quintet: stormy music in which the young composer tears himself away from the influence of his teachers and, with grand gestures, finds his own voice.
