Mozart Quintet for Piano and Wind Instruments | Brahms Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano

They have a common key signature, their closing movements are full of burgeoning optimism, and both are masterpieces in a totally original make-up. But whereas Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Wind Instruments (‘the best I have ever written’, in the composer’s view) is full of joie de vivre, Brahms allows the sun to break through in his Horn Trio only after an adagio that glistens with tears, thereby painting a sublime rainbow.
