The Russian classical music culture developed greatly in the Romantic era but of course its origins predate the 19th century: under the renowned Catherine the Great (1729-1796) St Petersburg became a dazzling mecca of music. This concert, full of secret gems, provides proof by soloists from the specialized baroque ensemble Altera Pars.
