Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto no.2 | Raskatov The Eclipse (first act, Dutch première)

The final evening is festive and stirring. Alexandre Kantorow is the most recent winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition. In his orchestral debut in Rotterdam he plays Tchaikovsky’s Second Piano Concerto. ‘The Eclipse’ (2018), composed by Alexander Raskatov, is a thrilling opera about a 19th-century uprising against the tsar. In the first act of ‘The Eclipse’ Raskatov, well known for his exuberant opera ‘A Dog’s Heart’, gives a dramatic account of revolutionary St Petersburg.
