Program

Conductor Kevin John Edusei | choir Nederlands Kamerkoor

Wagemans Love, baby love (world première) | Britten Four Sea Interludes & Passacaglia | J.L. Adams Become Desert (European première)

The biggest contemporary music hit of recent years – winning a Pulitzer Prize – was Become Ocean by the American John Luther Adams. The equally hypnotic follow-up Become Desert, commissioned partially by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, swaps the surging ocean for the blinding desert light. The orchestra also plays the world première of a piece by Peter-Jan Wagemans.

Neil Wallace chats with Peter-Jan Wagemans and some of the musicians at 19.15.
