Former music director James Conlon returns with his favourite The Mermaid: the tale of the Little Mermaid, turned into music as a hypnotic symphonic poem. Possibly even more enthralling is Brahms’s Second Piano Concerto with piano magician Nelson Freire as soloist. ‘Not to be missed’ wrote De Volkskrant recently one of his performances: ‘the piano became an orchestra, the orchestra a sumptuous world of sound.’
