Under Valery Gergiev the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra became ‘the best Russian orchestra west of Minsk’, in the view of The Times. With Yannick Nézet-Séguin we have developed that reputation still further. Ready to take over the baton, forthcoming music director Lahav Shani measures up to his illustrious predecessors in three iconic works of the 20th-century Russian repertoire. Fireworks guaranteed.
Due to an injury, soloist Harriet Krijgh cancelled her performance at the concert on March 9th. Julian Steckel will replace Harriet and will perform the Celloconcerto No.1 of Shostakovitch. He is considered to be the most talented cellist of his generation. We look forward to play this concert with this talented soloist and wish Harriet a quick and full recovery.
