For the first time since his appointment as the next chief conductor Lahav Shani conducts our orchestra. For this summer concert he has chosen three pieces on the boundary of classical and light music. Bernstein shifts between mambo and cha-cha, fragments of melancholic cabaret songs can be heard in the Weill, and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue – with Lahav Shani conducting from the piano – is pure symphonic jazz.
