I play the first violin (tutti) at the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Tutti means that you are a ‘teamplayer’, so you are not in charge. My first concert here was the Rachmaninov programme during the Gergiev Festival in 2015. I had never seen the orchestra in action and I had also never played with Gergiev before, it was overwhelming on all fronts.
My favourite works are Petrsuska by Stravinsky, with Gergiev, and Bruckner 8 with Yannick. The energy which is provided by these two conductors is unforgettable. That, in combination with this repertoire makes it all worth it for me, that is why I want to play in the orchestra.
In my free time I also play in other ensembles and I try to find time to study the baroque violin. Other than playing music, I like to paint and draw, but I also like to watch movies and go to the bar with my friends. It is also important for me to spend time with my family.
