Hed Yaron Mayersohn

Role in the orchestra:
I remember that I got a very warm welcome from the other musicians after my audition. I was surprised over the friendliness and openness of the people, and with the amount of love they spoke about the music and with each other. It looked like a family.
My first concert at the Rotterdam Phiharmonic was a special concert about war and peace. There was an unique atmosphere in the hall and I thought it was fantastic how the orchestra made a statement about the world in these times.
I am still discovering new things about my role as assistant leader all the time. It is a special position: seating next to the concertmaster, I want to play in a way that reinforces their way of playing the piece. It should make it easier for the whole group to follow the lead and make the leader feel completely free. I love sitting so near to the leaders of the different string sections. They are all such individual musicians and I love playing among them. Playing in the front line of the string section feels a bit like being part of a strong string octet, which is really fun!
In my free time I like to play see friends, read, watch films and sometimes travel. I also like cooking and jogging.
I admire:
I admire parents and teachers, they give so much of themselves to others.
