Campaign "Kennen we elkaar al?"
In 2018 the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra experienced its centenary. Throughout the year we had various campaigns to invite as many people as possible to celebrate this special anniversary with us. Three activities were central to this. First of all, we reserved one hundred free seats for almost all our concerts in de Doelen. We raffled these places out among interested residents in Rotterdam. In this way, more than 6,000 people visited us in 2018. For many of them, this has been the first introduction to live symphonic music.
During the Jubilee year, large purple listening chairs also travelled through the city. These seats, with music from our orchestra, were placed in prominent places in Rotterdam such as the Markthal, Rotterdam Central Station, Erasmus MC and Erasmus University. In this way people could also get to know our music outside the concert hall.
On June 9, 2018, our anniversary year reached a peak with a grand centenary at Schouwburgplein. Visitors enjoyed numerous performances for free. In the evening our festive and sold-out Jubilee Concert could be followed live on a large screen in front of the Doelen.
About the Cultuurmarketing Awards
The award ceremony of the Cultuurmarketing Awards will take place on June 27, 2019. On that day, the best marketing cases within the arts and culture sector are awarded. The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra was also nominated for a Cultuurmarketing Award in 2017.
