About this concert

Conductor Valery Gergiev
Mussorgsky
Pictures at an Exhibition

An evil dwarf, a troubadour in front of an old castle, the mighty Great Gate of Kiev: you can imagine it when you listen to this recording of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. A feast of imagination to the power of four: the whimsical fantasy of Viktor Hartmann, whose paintings started it all, the brilliance of Modest Mussorgsky, who translated the images into compelling music, the magic of Maurice Ravel, that of Mussorgsky's composition for piano made a sparkling orchestral work and the master hand of Valery Gergiev, who knows how to conjure up every imaginable color from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

This stream will be available from Friday 24 July 2020, 5 PM
