Mengjie Han

Mengjie Han (1989, Shanghai, China) received his first piano lessons at the age of six. In 2000, he was admitted to the Young Talent Academy of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (The Netherlands), where he received his lessons from Marlies van Gent. Mengjie enrolled at the Conservatory of Amsterdam to study with Jan Wijn in 2008, where he went on to receive his Bachelor and Master degree.

Mengjie has won prizes at numerous competitions, such as the International Steinway Competition, the Princess Christina Concours, the YPF Piano Competition and the International Maria Campina Piano Competition. These successes have led to concert performances all over Europe, the United States of America, South-Africa and China. He has received masterclasses from many internationally renowned musicians, such as Idil Biret, Leslie Howard, Boris Petrushansky, Jacques Rouvier, Stephen Kovacevich, Simon Trpçeski and Dimitri Bashkirov, amongst others. Mengjie regularly performs at national and international events, such as the YPF Galaconcert, the YPF Midsummerconcert at Paleis het Loo, the Steinway Piano Marathon Concert, the Grachtenfestival and the International Steinway Festival (Germany). As a soloist he frequently collaborates with orchestras, as well as being an active chamber musician and singer-accompanist.
