Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest

Romain Bly

Romain Bly, born in 1987, spends his childhood in Paris, where he studies classical trumpet and later French horn. On this instrument, he obtains a 1er Prix d'Excellence in Performance and Chamber Music in Rueil-Malmaison Conservatory, as well as a 1st prize in UFAM International Chamber Music Competition. Because of his passion for the symphony orchestra, he becomes a permanent member of the Orchestre-Atelier Ostinato and plays first horn in the Orchestre Symphonique du Loiret. He was chosen by the European Commission to go to Damascus National Opera for a collaboration with a Syrian / European ensemble and he played in the Camerata of Tirana at the International Music Festival of Calenzana (Corsica) with pianist Stephen Kovacevich as soloist. Meanwhile, Romain continues to play trumpet, with numerous artists from the Parisian pop / reggae / funk scene, and founds the band Les Gars Dans L'Coin. He also obtains his final diploma in Natural Horn Performance with the highest mark in CRR Paris. In 2011 he moves to Rotterdam to develop his skills with Bob Stoel, Martin van de Merwe and Teunis van der Zwart (for natural horn).
