Music in Motion

Scapino Ballet Rotterdam x Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra

The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Scapino Ballet Rotterdam have joined forces for a new video project: Music in motion. Scapino choreographer Ed Wubbe and RPhO innovator Mike Schäperclaus came up with a corona proof concept for fourteen dancers and thirty eight musicians with music by Edvard Grieg. This production creatively shows, without physical contact, a dialogue between dancers and musicians. The need for contact and being together, especially now that this is not possible, is made tangible and visible. The entire production was filmed from the point of view of a dancer or musician, so that there is constant eye contact. On Edvard Grieg's driving In the Hall of the Mountain King, the video is a powerful human statement.
