Shine a light

On Saturday 16 May, the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest was to take place in Rotterdam. The event was cancelled due to corona and therefore the NPO, NOS and AVROTROS produced a live show that was broadcasted in 45 countries. In addition to spotlighting the 41 songs of 2020, the unique production included special performances from popular artists from Eurovision’s past. The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra has performed an orchestral version of Love Shine a Light by Katrina and The Waves, the winning song of 1997.

Backstage

Although all our musicians recorded their parts for the video Shine a Light individually, four musicians came together in Rotterdam Ahoy. They gave a preview of our performance of Shine a Light in the presence of RTV Rijnmond. This was the first time in two months that our musicians could play together again. Watch an impression of the recordings in Ahoy below.
