Biography

Evert De Cock

Evert De Cock (Eindhoven NL, 1959) grew up in Hilversum (NL). After two years study of Astronomy and Physics he decided to switch to the Conservatorium of Music. He took up Theory of Music with David Rowland and Jan Wilbers at the Consevatory of Twente in Enschede (NL). He followed additional lessons and courses with Peter Schat, Dick Raaijmakers, Jan Boerman and Walter Hekster.

In the early 1990’s, Evert started his job as Chief Technician and Program Director at De Concertzender, a Dutch radio station for classical music, jazz and world music. As a program maker he devoted a lot of time to Dutch composers, avant-garde and music from Middle Ages and Renaissance. From 1996 to 2001 he was employed as a producer at De IJsbreker, the centre of contemporary music in Amsterdam.

Since 2002, Evert is self-employed. Among his clients are Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, the Netherlands Music Institute, Museum Our Lord in the Attic, VPRO Radio, Gergiev Festival Rotterdam and the Schreck Ensemble. In addition to this, Evert develops in close collaboration, publications and an extensive website for the Dutch visual artist Maria Van Elk. As an entrepreneur he deals with graphic design, photo and video commissions and recordings of audio tours and CD’s.  

Incidentally Evert appears on stage as an improvising musician. In his home studio the emphasis lies on electronic instruments, an important motive behind his work is the development of a meaningful combination of intrinsical and technical aspects of a job.
