Grand Finale

Big orchestra09 Jun '23 - 11 Jun '23(Past)

Russian joys and sorrows versus a French piano concerto full of contrasts: this concert brings together the best of two worlds.

2hours
80-85musicians
1break

Few symphonies cut so deeply into the soul as Tchaikovsky's Sixth. With her compelling emotionality, she is a sample of joys and sorrows in the best Russian tradition. Ravel's Piano Concerto in G is also full of contrasts. The jazzy opening movement and the flashy finale catapult us to the Roaring Twenties; in between, the adagio brings a blissful tranquility that is out of this world: ten minutes in paradise.

Update Daniil Trifonov

Due to illness, Daniil Trifonov had to cancel this weeks concerts. The Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho will take over the symphonic concerts this weekend in Rotterdam and Baden-Baden. The repertoire is changed to Ravel's Piano Concerto in G.
