The finest that the 2025-2026 season has to offer, packaged in an attractive Thursday evening concert series: this series gives you the best of the best.
Marie-José Schrijner (violin) about this series "In Premiere there is a nice mix of our now familiar top musicians and exciting young newcomers, including Daniel Lozakovich, Santtu-Matias Rouvali and Senja Rummukainen. Of all the masterpieces in this series, I am particularly looking forward to Bartók's Second Violin Concerto returning to the music stand. It is a very virtuoso and passionate piece by one of my favorite composers."

Yi-Ting Fang (cello) about this series “I am looking forward to Bruckner Five, a challenge for our group to mix the intonation well, but when you are in the orchestra and everything forms a whole, it is magical. And then: Te Deum, a great honor to be able to play that with that fantastic choir and ditto singers, Karel Schoofs who plays oboe d'amore, and Mahler Four, one of my favorite pieces."

I am also really looking forward to this series because of the world-class soloists, such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, the debut of Rouvali, another high-profile Finnish conductor. And Mahler's Fifth, my favorite symphony!"

His compositions are atmospheric and enchanting – like entering a dream world. His light orchestrations are reminiscent of the French tradition, so it’s fantastic to have Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique on the same programme.”

Hans Wisse (contrabassoon) about this series "Shostakovich's Seventh is my favorite concerto of course. For contrabassoonists, Shostakovich's symphonies are always a pleasure to play. He uses the contrabassoon, with its deep and resonant tone, to give shape to his preference for dark, somber and threatening timbres. In his music, the contrabassoon is not only intended for bass foundations, but also to evoke a sinister or melancholic atmosphere. This is especially clear to hear in this Seventh."

When you purchase a series, you can choose your seats earlier than buyers of single tickets.

A concert series will cost you considerably less than if you buy single tickets: you will benefit from 20% discount on the price of single tickets. The discount for the Flex series is 15%.

‘Onthutsend, adembenemend, tranentrekkend mooi. Zelfs erover schrijven brengt het kippenvel terug,’ schreef NRC&nbsp;over zijn debuut bij ons. ‘Tarmo Peltokoski. Schrijf die naam op.’ Dat deden we, Tarmo zette zijn handtekening eronder, en dat betekent dat hij onze vaste gastdirigent is met ingang van concertseizoen 23-24.
Kort na zijn debuut kon Rotterdam al nader kennismaken met dit fenomenale Finse talent. Tarmo dirigeerde het orkest opnieuw, ‘met elektriserend effect’, aldus de Volkskrant. Met een daverende piano-improvisatie zette hij vervolgens de foyer én de Steinway van de Doelen in vuur en vlam. In een video-interview vertelde hij over zijn liefde voor films, zijn klik met Yuja Wang (die, zoals we zelf al konden zien, overduidelijk wederzijds is) en zijn bewondering voor Wagner. Iemand om naar uit te kijken, zoveel werd meteen al duidelijk.
Tarmo treedt aan als vaste gast in Rotterdam. Yuja Wang, Richard Wagner en de componisten van Hollywood zijn in concertseizoen 23-24 van de partij. Dat wordt genieten. Voor wie het nog niet had gedaan: Tarmo Peltokoski, schrijf die naam op.
