With his Fourth Piano Concerto, Beethoven composed a marvel of tenderness and dialogue: a poetic conversation between piano and orchestra, where silence speaks as eloquently as sound. Pianist Francesco Piemontesi lends it a touch of refined brilliance. Then Mahler’s monumental Fifth bursts forth – from funeral march to jubilant finale, a symphony that celebrates life itself in all its storms, dreams, and triumphs.

This concert was previously titled Yuja Wang plays Ligeti. Unfortunately, pianist Yuja Wang has had to cancel her performances due to health reasons. She will be replaced by Swiss pianist Francesco Piemontesi, who will perform Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto. Mahler’s Fifth Symphony remains unchanged on the program. Ticket holders have already been informed by email.
