For the second time, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra travels to Bucharest for the Enescu Festival – Romania’s largest festival, dedicated to violinist and composer George Enescu. Chief conductor Lahav Shani leads two contrasting programs full of drama, lyricism, and virtuosity, and performs Shostakovich’s Second Piano Concerto. Romanian violin virtuoso Valentin Șerban shines in Mozart’s Fifth Violin Concerto, and the program also includes Enescu’s Intermezzi and Beethoven’s monumental Eroica.
