On a magical winter evening, Clara gets the chance to change her fate and become a hero!
"Clara is a girl who, after the death of her mother, lives with her cruel aunt and cousin. They bully her and treat her like a servant. Every night, she cries herself to sleep. But the night when the story of The Nutcracker begins is different. Not because the Christmas tree is being decorated and there are presents, but because magic seems to linger in the cold winter air. Toys come to life, mice are on the hunt, and Clara gets the chance to become the hero of her own story. Will she seize the opportunity?

We offer an entertaining program with free activities prior to the performance. In the vibrant and grand hall of De Doelen you can interactively experience music and art with the whole family. This includes:
- Instrument parade of the SKVR school of music
- Face painting (voucher required – see info below)
- Crafts & drawing
- Virtual Reality experience
- Orchestra Explorer (interactive sound installation)

The pre-concert program starts 75 minutes before the performance. Some activities may be crowded, if so please visit another activity first.
