Grant Thomas is originally from Tuscon, Arizona. Grant holds a bachelor's degree from the Jacobs School of Music where he studied with Kurt Muroki. During his bachelor's degree Grant won the Indiana University concerto competition and performed Bottesini’s Concerto in B Minor with the IU Chamber Orchestra. Grant currently attends Codarts Rotterdam with Luis Cabrera to continue his studies.

Grant has worked with the National Youth Orchestra of the United States, the New World Symphony and the Music Academy of the West, among others. He has performed in masterclasses for Jeremy McCoy, Robin Kesselman, Jeff Bradetich, Kristin Bruya and Dominik Wagner. Grant is passionate about contemporary music, and has performed with the American Modern Ensemble, Wild Up!, and the Mostly Modern Festival Orchestra.

In his free time, Grant learns and performs tango. He has been mentored by bandoneonist and pianist Winnie Cheung, and has continued his studies with the Codarts OTRA ensemble.
