‘I went to a concert for the first time in sixth grade primary school and it had such an impact! When I came to work here three years ago, almost all music was new to me. I find it interesting and super fun: listening to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra is a kind of training. I'm in the early stages of listing to classical music and therefore opted for some light material. First the Proms: I'm a Star Wars (and Star Trek) fan; fantastic to hear the orchestra playing. I like science fiction and am also looking forward to Apollo by Corrie van Binsbergen. It is a family performance about time travel and space, which is also very interesting for adults. I have already seen a piece of Yannick and Die Walküre because we did something with it for education: a beautiful symphony, bombastic, grand, you will be blown away. And Yannick is also a joy to watch. I loved the combination of orchestra and vocals. Not very light, no.' I think it would be nice to start the year with the New Year's concert. Let's see if we can make it a family tradition.'
