Julie Adalsteinsson

Academy 2023-2024

Hi, my name is Julie and I'm a Luxembourgish violinist with Icelandic roots. After having studied first in Rotterdam and then in Graz, I'm extremely happy to be back in Rotterdam.

Besides playing the violin, I really enjoy discovering new places and spending time with my close friends. As I grew up in the countryside I also really love taking long walks in the nature

Julie Adalsteinsson (Luxembourg, 1997) received her first violin lessons from Sofie Vermeersch at the age of eight. She studied at Codarts, Rotterdam, with Natasja Morozova and afterwards at the Art University in Graz as a student of Giovanni Guzzo, with whom she completed her master studies. She took several master classes with violinists such as Sebastian Bohren, Gordan Nikolic and Misha Furman.

During her time as a student, Julie appeared as a soloist with several orchestras. Julie has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, Jeugdorkest Nederland and the Young Metropole Orchestra. Recently, she also started playing with the Solistes Européens Luxembourg and Recreation Orchester in Graz. In 2016, Julie won her first prize at the 21st Century Art Competition in Vienna; in 2022, her piano trio finished in second place at the Martha Debelli Competition.

We welcome Julie to our orchestra Academy this season.
