Núria Comorera Nosàs

Academy 2023-2024

Hi, my name is Núria! I come from a family of musicians from Barcelona, Spain. I started playing the cello from a very young age in my hometown and then when I was 17 years old, I moved to the USA to continue my studies. I lived in New York City and Boston for 4 years. Besides music, I enjoy many things in life like building Legos, cooking delicious Catalan and Spanish food, traveling, and going out with friends. Playing in orchestra is definitely one of my favorite things to do as a musician, and I cannot be more excited to play with the Rotterdam Philharmonic and enjoy this new chapter in my life.

Núria Comorera Nosàs (Barcelona, 1999) was three years old when she began playing the cello. In 2017 she was admitted to the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Phillipe Muller. At the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, she continued her studies under Rhonda Rider, where she completed her bachelor's degree cello summa cum laude. Núria currently completed her studies for her Artist Diploma in Orchestra Performance at the OAcademy with cellist Ilmari Hopkins.

Núria has participated in master classes with cellists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Gary Hoffman and Steven Isserlis. She won prizes in several international competitions, including the Torneo Internacional de Música (2013), the Vic Cello Festival (2014) and the Fivesparks Music Competition at Harvard University. Other than that, Nuria was a leader in the Barcelona Youth Symphony Orchestra, played in the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra and the European Union Youth Orchestra.
